Hi,

i'm new at the forum and brewing. I brewed my 5th batch of IPA.
My OG was 1.061 and it has been fermenting for 3 weeks now. I used the US-05 dry yeast. It was 68 F when i pitched.
Since the beginning of the 2nd week the density is stuck at 1.040.
I repitched after 4 days stuck.
It has been a week and it has come down only to 1.035 and it is stuck for 4 days now.

What sould i do now?

I was planning on doing dry hopping, but i'm worried about racking to the secondary since the density is still to high.

OBS: all my densities readings was made with a refractometer.

I have heard that refractometers are not accurate post fermentation. Try a hydrometer and see.

refractometers are worse than useless after it has started fermenting; they are misleading. as cbm says, you need a hydrometer for that. it's probably done, but no way to be sure without a hydro reading

Thanks a lot guys. I had no idea about this.
I will do my readings and post the results once i'm done with it.

Confirmed. my refractometer is waaaaaay off with alcohol present in solution. I have heard there are calculators to determine, but I wouldn't trust it. Good ol' hydrometer works for me. :)

FG was 1.018 with hydrometer.
Never realized this huge diference.

I just passed the beer to the secondary to dry hop.

Thanks again guys.
