Saw this one again in the forum a couple of days ago. prolly What is going on in some ones mind to use a junk word like that.

Itch it. When someone is supposed to hold still and they say "can I itch my nose?" It's scratch! You scratch an itch, you don't itch it.

Maybe I don't technically hate the phrase, but when a guy in the shop picks up a hammer to beat on something (everyone should be wearing safety glasses anyway), they'll say, " watch your eyes!".
Not sure how that's done without a mirror...

I'm all like,, "what the flocc?" and then punch a mather floccer in the beeries and eat some cheese cake. and they're all like hey, butch weasel! why the floccin flocc?!? then I'm like, "you didn't learn the first time! whah-ka-sai! chode uppercut!!" then they be all like, "I'm crying cus I'ma pterodactyl! Boo-floccin-hoo and s#!T!" pssshhhh! sissies.

When the hell did more than one sign change from signs to signage?

As in, "We have to get the signage up so people will know about the event".

This might possibly be the most sensible ,honest and sincere post I've ever read .Thank you Bk.

I finally made it to the end of this thread. So many of these examples irritate me too, even though I'm guilty of uttering several of them. One that I didn't see was using loose in place of lose.
If I loose my beer again I'm going to completely loose it.

"It is what it is". Its such a defeatist attitude and an excuse to not deal with a situation. One of the mansgers where I works utters these worthless pile of words anytime things go wrong.

And

"That'll take a minute" which means its going to take a good bit if time.

I worked with a guy who used that one and another one, end to end. "It is what it is...what can you do?"

When people online just say "this" when linking or responding to something...

This... This, what? Cures the common cold? Tastes like chicken? Finish the sentence!

In addition, I despise unfinished words, as in: "that is totes adorbs"...

Also, "irregardless"... And I am just now, as I type this, filled with a small sense of rage that my iPad made NO effort to correct the fact that I just typed the word irregardless... For F's sake, it even tried to autofill it as I typed "irrega"

I'm going to go punch something now.

Signage: We'll have to get some signage to advertise our event.

When the hell did signs become signage?

Price point: I'm not buying at the price point.

Really? How about, I'm not buying at that price?

That one makes my teeth hurt.

Everyone on every HGTV show uses "price point" instead of just "price", like it makes them seem smarter.

It doesn't...

Cheers!

I have seen signage used in legislation... therefor same thing as Day Tripper said people use it to sound cleverer :D
I have to use signage in reports as I am referring to signs put up to comply with the legislation signage requirements, but I would never say to someone - hey look at that shop signage over there!

Same here. When I've drafted up "signage plans" in the past, the term wasn't just referring to the signs but also the requirements for where/how to install them.

Seems to be reasonable use of the word.

But, "We need to put up signage" is ridiculous.

"That's what she said."

"It is what it is."

Any artifacts from the 90's like "Too much information," "tell us how you really feel" and that ilk.

"_______justice." As in "social justice, economic justice," etc...
Or "________responsibility" As in "social responsibility."
None of these exist, they're commie buzzwords used by liberals/socialists to describe redistribution of wealth or as an excuse to erode individual rights.
