Will it hurt the beer if I top off now?

I brewed today. There's just over 4 gallons of wort in the bucket. I forgot to top off. Can I boil some water, let it reach room temp, and carefully pour it in tomorrow morning??

Should be fine, as long as you keep everything sanitary, of course.

is your final gravity correct? you might be diluting your beer a lot if you add another gallon to it.

No, original gravity was high. I just brewed it 6 hours ago.

Same day? I'd go ahead and add the water. Fermentation probably hasn't hardly started yet.
