I was always under the impression that the WL production date was always 4 months prior to the "best by" date on the packaging. I picked up a pure pitch of wlp001 the other day and the "best by" date is 5/15/20...am I missing something here?

Ahhh, when did that change?? I must have missed the memo!

Their site used to say 4 months and I have been using that info to make starters for years!!

I can confirm its 6 months. I picked up a pack of WLP400 belgian wit at my LHBS a few weeks ago. Manufacture data was 07/02/19 with best use by date of 01/02/20. I was brewing a small batch and didnt want to do a starter so I passed on it.

vials are 4months and plastic envelope packs are 6 months.

That makes sense. When I first started making starters, WL's site said it was 4 months but that was when they were packaging in the plastic vials. I never thought to check if that changed when they switched to the Pure Pitch packaging.

Thanks all!
