Has anyone else found brown spots in their White Labs yeast lately? I found them a couple months ago and again today, this time in WLP001 California Ale, best by date of DEC 24, 2022. I'm not sure what to make of this. No, they aren't bubbles.

They look like dried growth medium.
I'm pretty sure the content is still A-OK, but reach out to White Labs, with that picture and a picture of the outer sleeve showing the batch ID and date, to hear what they have to say.

I suspect it is fine and some spots are not uncommon. The way that White Labs packaging works is they ferment in a large plastic bladder. They then seal up smaller packages of various sizes of that bladder (like the small sealed package in your pic).
