It almost completely takes over what ever beer you do. I have tried it a few times and I am not a fan. Especially for pales. Just putting the warning out there.
Not sure what you mean by 'takes over' every beer you make?
Do you mean that every beer you brew regardless of grain bill tastes the same when using this yeast? Sorry but that's not the yeast, it's something in your process or water profile.
001 is the same as 05 or 1056, a clean Amercan Ale yeast or Chico Strain. It's a strain I use frequently as many others do and I can tell you that not one of my beers using this strain taste the same
Is this what you're talking about? If so, I've never used it, so I cannot comment. But according to WL, it does appear to be a little less neutral than WLP001 (WY1056/US-05, I.e., "Chico"), but being that it's designed to let the hops shine, I can't imagine it would impart much flavor.
NO, I mean every beer I do with THAT yeast gets the same off flavor.
NO, I mean every beer I do with THAT yeast gets the same off flavor. I use all kinds of yeast for all kinds of beer. That strain sucks. hahahaha
Unless your using it totally wrong (no starter, way too high/low ferment temps), the yeast isn't giving you off flavors. I'd look to some other ingredient/process. That's about as neutral of a yeast as there is...
Again, it just comes from THAT YEAST. I ferment it right on the cold side. 68-70 of the recommended 68-72. It isnt a very unless I am some how tipping the vile upside down to pitch the yeast some wrong way, its the yeast
you guys are freakin me out. Im brewing my second brew today Dead Ringer IPA. I'm using WL001. I made a starter yesterday. Its chugging right along. I was supposed to use Wyeast 1056 but I messed up making the starter. made an emergency run to LHBS for a replacement and got 001 on advice from this forum Hope I didnt blow it
Can anyone tell me if having produced my liter of 001 starter yesterday, is TODAY at halftime too soon to pitch it? Making dead ringer. My starter looks great lots of bubbles and foam. frequent hand strirring. looses foil cap.

Edited as I have no idea what yeast the OP is even talking about.
