Hey guys, I am brewing a wheat ale tomorrow. I normally do All Grain, but since I am making this beer to be the favor at my wedding this summer, I am making a TON (35 gallons), I am doing an extract brew. My question is comes with the steeping of the grains. My recipe is:
68.5 lbs of wheat malt extract
Steeping
4lbs 13 oz of crystal 10
4lbs 13 oz of flaked wheat
2lbs 6 oz of Caravienne
Is it necessary to steep the flaked wheat? Would I get any flavor/mouth-feel/color from steeping flaked wheat? I am curious to that? I do know that without any 2 row, any starch in the wheat itself will not be converted.
