What kind of string, and how heavy at harvest?

Hey,

I am planting hops for the first time. I am curious what type of line is best (and why) for the vines to grow on. Does it need to be sisal, etc. Also, how heavy can each line get at harvest time.

Thanks for you help with my planning.
 
3/8" at the least. I used coir last year and it sucked. I am gtoing back to Sisal. If I have to replace it each year it might as well be inexpensive.

I have never weighed the vines at harvest but, they are their heaviest when they are wet and it's windy.
 
I've used all kinds of string, I recommend jute cord or sisal. They seem coarse enough for the bines to attach to, and don't stretch like nylon line does.
 
Weight? Figure a maximum of 20 lbs and 10 is more likely. Best case:
