What is the size of a typical bung hole?

I'm trying to look for a piece of adapter to stick into my bung hole so I don't have to keep using my 3 piece air lock for blow off
I'm thinking maybe a 1/4 inch coupling like the ones below

Is 1/4 the right size? What size is your bung hole?

I am not sure but with a thread title like this one, I had to stop in! I put a hose on the end of my airlock so I knew the fit would remain the same in the fermenter. So the airlock is basically the fitting.

Me too,great title. I found that a 1/2" silicone hose fits around the hole and into the gap. just put the hose in boiling water for a few seconds and slip it on. I have 3 permanent ones with different hose lengths. It has to be the universal bung. Would that make it a Bi bung?

I dont know, but this gave me a new idea on what to do with that three piece airlock.

3/8 makes a nice tight fit.

That’s according to “a friend“ who did some “experimenting“ in college….
