I tried the limited release Surly Whalezbrah handed out at Homebrewcon last night. Awesome beer!! I love it when you taste a beer and get something a lot different than most of anything you've had before. I spent a good time trying to place some of the flavors I was getting out of it and just couldn't place it. It seemed like there were some fruity notes coming off of it. At first I thought it might have been an english ale yeast or maybe a saison thing, but it didn't really line up. I found a little bit of information on line. I think they're calling it an oaked APA. Once I read that it was oaked I think that accounted for a lot of what I was getting out of it.
Anybody know anything else about this beer or have any thoughts about the beer?
