Hi all -
I'm giving a new recipe a try. I've never really done a recipe "from scratch" like this before but I've done a few where I base beers off of clones or a few recipes.
I'm looking for a not too sweet, citrusy watermelon IPA. I got the idea from Hell or High Water from 21st amendment and converted into an IPA. That is one of my favorite summer beers even though I typically don't like wheat beer. I thought I'd add a little bit of cayenne pepper to the boil for a little pepper flavor to balance out the watermelon without getting too much heat. I put 1 tsp cayenne below but honestly have no idea how much to use.
Here's what I've come up with - probably going to brew tomorrow so any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
------------------------------------
Grains:
2.5 Lbs Pale Malt
.5 Crystal 10
DME (Light): 7 lbs (4lbs late)
Hops:
Bittering: Magnum/Warrior (not sure which yet), 1 oz
Last 10:
Summit, 1 oz
1 tsp Cayenne Pepper
Flameout:
Citra 1 oz
Simcoe 1 oz
Dry:
Citra 1oz
Simcoe 1oz
