1. Saving Private Ryan (WWII)
2. Apocalypse Now (vietnam)
3. Southern Comfort (vietnam)

I will probably change my mind later when you guys post. I love war movies. Pretty sure #1 will stay there though. Pretty much the perfect movie.

1. The Dirty Dozen (WW II)
2 the Great Escape (WW II)
3. The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly (Civil War)
The last one may not be considered an actual war movie, more like how Die Hard is a Christmas movie.

1. Full Metal Jacket (Vietnam)
2. Saving Private Ryan (WWII)
3. We Were Soldiers/Platoon (Vietnam)
Hard to pick a favorite, my list could change tomorrow depending on the mood.

1) Red Dawn
2) TIE---Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket
4) TIE---Hamburger Hill and First Blood (aka Rambo)

1) U571 (WWII)
2) Full Metal Jacket (Vietnam)
3) Band of Brothers (WWII, i know i know it's a miniseries not a movie, but it's Steven Spielberg and it's really good...)

Totally did not expect to see Southern Comfort in the OP. Great, weird movie.

1 Zulu Dawn
2 Stalingrad (1993 version)
3 The Patriot, even though it plays fast and loose with history

Tora Tora Tora..2nd world war
Zulu....1964 epic war film depicting the Battle of Rorke's Drift between the British Army and the Zulus in January 1879
Battle of Britain...1969 British Second World War film
Dambusters....
These are all old movies..not something hi tech with special effects

Saving Private Ryan

Band of Brothers

Full Metal Jacket

Many, many honorable mentions, but I gotta mention Master and Commander.
