I have a Johnson controller And 6" thermowell to fit in my hlt tank for herms. I'm thinking a pid might offer better control and am considering upgrading. Can I use the johnsons probe with an auber pid or should i find one on their site? If on their site, any suggestions for me? Thanks!

Any $4 rtd or thermocouple probe from amazon or ebay will work fine once you program the pid to know what type it is however the ones with the quick disconnects are nice to have....
Sorry I do not know what kind of probe the Johnson unit uses..
This pid will work fine too for what your doing.

or this one which comes with everything but the heatsink for the ssr...

these are what I use with no problems.

i do think quick disconnects would be nice to have as well. The johnson site says its a PTC sensor. I think my best bet is to sell the johnson as is and use that money to upgrade to PID. Thanks again Augie!
