I plan on brewing a 5.5 gallon batch tomorrow and wanted to post my recipe and see if anyone had any thoughts or suggestions.
I'll be brewing using BIAB.
I'm a fairly new brewer, this will be my 6th 5.5 gallon batch. I'm trying to get a very hoppy IPA.

Recipe Type: All Grain
Yeast: Safale US-05
Batch Size (Gallons): 5.5
Original Gravity: 1.0614
Final Gravity: 1.016
IBU: 67.5
Est Alc% 6.3%
Boiling Time (Minutes): 60
Efficiency: 70%
Color: 12.5 SRM

Grain 60 min Mash @ 156 degrees & 10 min Mashout at 168 degrees

12 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM)
2 lbs Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (60.0 SRM)

Wort Boil 60min

0.50 oz Citra [12.00 %] - Boil 60.0 min 15.7 IBUs
0.50 oz Simcoe [13.00 %] - Boil 60.0 min 18.7 IBUs
0.50 oz Simcoe [13.00 %] - Boil 15.0 min 9.3 IBUs
0.50 oz Simcoe [13.00 %] - Boil 10.0 min 6.8 IBUs
1.00 oz Cascade [5.50 %] - Boil 5.0 min 3.2 IBUs
1.00 oz Citra [12.00 %] - Boil 5.0 min 6.3 IBUs
1.00 oz Simcoe [13.00 %] - Boil 5.0 min 7.5 IBUs
2.00 oz Cascade [5.50 %] - Boil 0.0 min 0.0 IBUs
1.50 oz Simcoe [13.00 %] - Boil 0.0 min 0.0 IBUs
0.50 oz Citra [12.00 %] - Boil 0.0 min 0.0 IBUs

I may also dry hop 2oz of Cascade for about 4-7 days just before bottling.

I'd appreciate any thoughts or comments!

Thanks!

Hop schedule looks good, but would cut the crystal down by 50-75%. Maybe use 1/2 lb or 3/4 lb. 2lb is too much.

Also, I would dry hop with the Cascade, Citra, and Simcoe if you have more.

Personally i would change the C60 to C40 and cut i back to 12 to 16 oz. I personally prefer to use a cleaner and higher bittering hop like magnum or horizon at 60. Then do something like this

1.00 oz Simcoe [13.00 %] - Boil 15.0 min
1.00 oz Cascade [5.50 %] - Boil 10 min
1.00 oz Citra [12.00 %] - Boil 5.0 min
1.00 oz Cascade [5.50%] flameout
1.00 oz Simcoe [13.00 %] flameout
1.00 oz Citra [12.00 %] flameout

and then dryhop 5 to 7 days
1.00 oz Cascade [5.50%]
1.00 oz Simcoe [13.00 %]
1.00 oz Citra [12.00 %]

I was typing about the mash temp!!:mug: Joe beat me to it... anyway, 2nd that too.

I second cutting down the crystal to no more than a pound. I prefer 60 in an IPA if I'm not using a combination of c20 and vienna over c40, FWIW. And I like Glynn's hop schedule 2nd that too. I prefer 90 minute boils most of the time for my IPAs. But using horizon, warrior of magnum is better for bittering. Save the citra for the last 15 to flameout or for a dry hop.

What preboil volume are you thinking about using?

I'll be starting pre-boil with 8.19 gal, calc'd from Beersmith2

Just a quick update on this brew.
I brewed this with my brother on November 24, the only change to the recipe was subbing Bry 97 West Coast Ale Yeast instead of US-05. Another note is that we used Citra leaf hops, and Simcoe/Cascade pellet hops.
The brew was left in the primary for 5 weeks, had an O.G. of 1.043, and F.G. of 1.004, for around 5%. We missed our target but that's been typical for when I'm BIAB!

I sampled a beer the other day and it turned out great, very hoppy, bitter and slightly sweet IPA. The Citra leaf hop flavour really stands out. I'd probably describe the beer as tasting like a sweeter version of SN Torpedo IPA.
I'd definitely try brewing this again. Next time I may try scaling back the Crystal 60L a bit, or maybe trying Crystal 40L like Glynn suggested.

This was my first time using leaf hops and I'll definitely use them for all my late hop additions in the future. We didn't dry hop this brew but since there was so much late hop additions added at 5 min & flameout (7oz), the brew came out tasting like it was dry hopped.
I really liked the Bry 97 yeast and will likely be using this with my IPA's from now on.
