Stone just came out with a collaboration beer Texas Brown Ale, if anyone tries it let me know how it is! I'm a native Texan but now living in San Diego and loving the west coast hops. This is a mix of both southern flavor with some west coast kick. Let me know!

collaboration between stone and bear republic to make something called a texas brown ale? Does this actually have some real connection to Texas or is this just some marketing bull****? Is there mesquite-smoked malt? or chipotle peppers? Because as an ex-patriot of the Republic of Texas, I'd love to have some fine craft beer to associate with my homeland... but I am not seeing the connection.

I think Papazian's book talks about it (might be wrong reference) but Texas Brown Ale was apparently an older name sometimes used for American Brown Ales.

Sounds like a marketing ploy.
