I came up with this recipe recently and have really been enjoying it. It's a straw color, light bodied beer with a spicy nose and pretty spicy flavor and a dry finish. Very refreshing summer beer. I thought I'd share it in case anyone wants to try it.
This is for 11 gallons:
10lbs 2 row
5lbs rye malt
2lbs white wheat malt
1lb crystal 10
Lots of rice hulls- I only used .5lb and had some trouble lautering with my braid. I'd go with 1lb.
First Wort Hops (90 minute boil): .5oz Magnum @12.9 AA and .5oz Columbus (CTZ) @ 15 AA
10 minutes 1oz Mt. Hood
5 Minutes 1oz Mt.Hood
Flame Out 1oz Mt. Hood
Single infusion mash @ 152, I did a 90 minute mash
US 05 @ 64F for 5 days and then a week or so at 68F
OG 1.046ish FG 1.010 ish ABV: 4.76%
IBU: 34
SRM: 4.3
Water: I used 90/10 RO to filtered tap and added Calcium Chloride and phosphoric acid.
Here's the Brewer's Friend Advanced Water Calculator that I use and then the code for what I used for this beer. You can enter the code at the bottom of the calculator to reload my water info for this beer.
