The guy at the LBHS recently gave me a vial of WLP655 - Belgian sour blend - because it had just passed the expiration date. Last night, I made a small starter (1/2 cup DME, 1 pint water) to make sure that it's still viable. I'm not panicking, but how long should I let it go without clear signs of activity before I give up on this yeast? I plan on brewing tomorrow.

Thanks

There is a function at the Mr Malty yeast pitching rate calculator where you can input the yeast production date and it will tell you the viability and how big of a starter you need. He recommends that a starter should be at least 1 liter.
