I've never had California Steam Ale. Have to go out and get some.

Me neither. That's another one I'm curious about. I wonder if they sell it out my way? Not to mention,Mammoth Brewing's "395 IPA" that Gary Wilson did such a glowing review about.

The only commercial one is Anchor Steam.

You may be able to find some craft varieties near you though. If you check out Beer Advocate and search for California Common they have a long list of small production beers.

I thought that's what he meant? And I'm not much for those 250 kiloton hop bombs. But when Gary described that Mammoth 395 IPA as having a good balance,etc,I gotta,gotta,gotta,gottagottagottagotta get down,damnit! *(anyone remember Murray Saul's weekend salute on WMMS)?
