Simple question...

So, I'm brewing a porter recipe on saturday, found it on beersmith, and it calls for 2lbs of Corn Syrup. I was just at the LHBS on yesterday, however it's not so "local", and forgot to pick up Corn Syrup.

My question is can I just go to the Grocery Store and buy corn syrup or is there a difference in Brewing Corn Syrup and cooking corn syrup?

I feel like this will be a simple answer and I will feel like a big dummy, but I'd rather ask someone than ruin 5g of beer.

Ive used karo syrup before to no ill effects.
