So I know I saw a post or two about this previously, but I can't find them anymore. I found Watlow (https://www.watlow.com/products/heaters/ht_flex.cfm) silicone wrap heaters and wondered if anyone has tried them as a way to improve temp control in a MT? The idea is you set the wrap for whatever temp you want, and insulate like normal. Being external, you don't have the mash going anywhere, and because you aren't heating, just holding, I would hope it simply just works. I've got a PID I can use to control the wrap. The problem I have is that when it's cooler in my garage, even with my insulated MT, I can't quite keep my temps. Everything tends to come out a bit drier. I'm using quite a bit of insulation, but like magic, it always ends up at about 148 when I'm done. I have the chance to get a wrap heater for relatively cheap, and just want to make sure it's at least a good assumption before I jump in.
Thanks for any help.
