Brewed and bottled one a few months ago. My first ever and it took a first place in a contest on the island of Hawai`i. I guess it's basically a stout so I'm thinking a year storage should improve it. Hard to store some when you only do small batches and get like 17 bottles. LOL

Thought about brewing a stronger version and calling it Loch Ness Monster. LOL

Congrats man haha. You got some serious willpower if it was that good of a beer and you still have some stored after months :D

First, congratulations!

Second, how is a a Scottish Export "basically a stout?" Like they are not really all that similar at all.

Well if you look at it abstractly and not in flavour profile, both are:
Higher abv
Age amazingly
Dark beer
Strong flavoured
Malt driven

As for aging it, my advice is to do several batches at once, keep some for drinking and put the others back in the box, and then stack your empty bottles on top.

That's the only way beer lasts for me.
