Scorched liquid extract in my E-kettle?

I usually brew all grain, but I like to do extract kits every now and then mainly DME. I brewed a double batch of M-80 ipa from morebeer and have a weird nasty flavor that lingers on your tongue. The only thing different is the liquid extract I have never used it with my electric kettle is it possible the extract was scorched? This is the first time I have had beer that is undrinkable, I've drank a couple but it was terrible, bad news because I have 10 gallons of the stuff.

I think if it was scorched, you would see the burnt extract on the bottom of the kettle.
