Howdy everyone,
I ended up ordering some pressure sensors like what HopRodGarage installed on his system and decided that they were not the route I wanted to go after all.
My loss is your gain.
The specs are:
Pressure range: 0 - 50 millibar (~20 inches of water)
Input voltage: 5v - 24v
Output voltage: 0 - 5v
Temperature rating: 212F with cooling tube section / 176F without
Sensor body connection: G1/2 (on sensor body)
Cooling tube connection: 1/4" NPT
Cable: 3 meters
The depth reading is easily read with a ADC that can handle a 5v input.
Would recommend installing them in a similar fashion to HopRodGarage's installation.
The following is what I was planning on doing.
Connecting to kettle:
- 1/2" NPT port on kettle

- 1/2" camlock male (type F - if female bulkhead / type A if male bulkhead)
- 1/2 camlock female (type D)
- 1/2" street 90
- 1/2" MNPT -> 1/4" FNPT bushing
- Cooling tube
- sensor
Price: $70 (including shipping in the USA)
I currently have 4 of these in hand.
HopRodGarages version: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showpost.php?p=8090927&postcount=10
Note: Only the sensors are for sale. The camlock and other fittings are there to demonstrate a connection scheme.
