I am going to be taking the Certified Cicerone exam in May and I am not very worried about the written part of the test. I am, however, worried about the tasting part... specifically the off-flavors part. From what I have read they give you a basic bud, coors, miller, etc style beer and spike 3 out of 4. You have to identify which are spiked with what off flavor. As for how strong they spike them I am unsure and if it is very subtle I might be in trouble. I would like to familiarize myself with these off flavors. I have heard there are kits you can buy but others say you can do it for much less money with grocery store bought ingredients. Any suggestions?
