Yay!
We completed our very first brew yesterday. We decided since this was our very first try to make it as simple as possible. We used two LME extract cans and a partial boil to make a 20 liter batch, or about 5 gallons.
We used one can of Coopers Real Ale and one can of Brewferms light extract. Our chosen yeast was Safeale US-05
We achieved a OG of 1.050 and from this forum I've read people getting an attenuation with US-05 of 70-90% which should give us an ABV % of 4.6 % - 5.9% and an FG 1.015 - 1.005 according to my calculations.
I found a bar that agreed to sell me beugel (grolsch) type bottles for quite cheap (0.20).
12 hours after brewing and the blow off tube is bubbling away
Now all we gotta do is make our labels and come up with a name!
Here are the pics!
Sanitizing everything.
Heating the extract.
Multitasking...
Boiling the first can of extract + water
Yes I know, that is not a kettle.
Pouring the second can of extract.
The second can of wort REALLY boiled!
Aerating the wort.
Taking a sample of the sweet, sweet nectar.
The final product, with the yeast pitched!
