Other brews besides beers and ciders

So what are other things people have brewed besides beers and ciders? I've got a friend who likes the idea of brewing but doesn't like beer that much, he thought about cider but was wondering what else people brew.....

mead, wine, kombucha, skeeter pee almost anything will ferment.

There's a thread on here somewhere about fermenting rice with chinese yeast balls to make a ~20% ABV rice wine.

Sahti is pretty good. Comes from Finland and is an unboiled and unhoppd fermented drink made with bakers yeast and juniper.
