Has anyone used one of these kits?

I happened upon a W&P Barrel Aging Kit on clearance for $3 at TJ Maxx.

It's marketed for distilled liquors, but I thought it might be something I could use in a 750 of home brew.

I was thinking of using it in a swing-top 750, probably after bottle-conditioning? Before?

Or is this just a stupid idea, and I should stick them in a cheap bottle of tequila or something?

I was thinking about the bourbon idea. You just convinced me.

I'll let you know how it comes out. How long do you think I should keep it in?

As long as you can stand. I'm actually drawing up a Jameson stout. Just going to use the oak chips from my LHBS though.
