I was reading through the gluten free forums and saw that chestnuts are a viable, though expensive, option for fermentables. I was wondering if other nuts might also work. Does anyone have any information on brewing with other nuts? I was hoping almond might work, cause it's cheap. Anyone know what's special about chestnuts? I see the oils as a problem with head retention, but other than that I don't know where to go with it. If this should be moved to GF, that's fine - just not a lot of action over there.

Whoops, a simple search for nutritional facts answered my question. Chestnut is very unique in it's carb content, which is >80%, most other nuts are <10% carbs, bummer. Cause chestnuts are very seasonal and harder to come by.
