Hello to everyone, I just got the equipment together and brewed my first batch 2 days ago. I am hoping it works out. I am excited to try some new styles of beer and brew some good beer.
I am from Gillette, wy.
I will be asking some questions and hopefully I will get some experience and be able to answer some questions.

Welcome, this is a great group, I have learned a lot of useful information on here. I have been brewing extracts since Oct and now moving on to full grain.

So I have just brewed my first batch and have question, is it required to shift to another carboy after first ferment stops, the kit directions did not indicate this
Thanks for any input

Well, you opened a can of worms with that question. Depending on what type of beer, some beer can be racked into a secondary after primary fermentation stops. LHBS have buckets with a spigot attached that allow you to bottle after the secondary is completed. Fruit beers or sour beers might do better sitting on the trub for a short time. Others say to never take it out of the primary until you are ready to bottle.

You'll have to experiment for yourself and see which way you like better.

Personally, I like 7 day ferment in primary, 2 weeks (or so) in secondary before transferring to it's final resting place (bottles, or a corny for the kegerator.)

There is a ton of info online here that can point you in the right direction depending on your tastes.

Good luck and welcome aboard!

Thanks I think for the first round I'll keep them little guys in the first house and see how it goes, thanks for the reply
