Dangerous thread to flip through at 9:00 AM on Super Bowl Sunday. So many great looking beers, my mouth is watering. Can't wait for my beers fermenting and bottled to be ready to drink!

All out of homebrew, so I'll be drinking some Mill Street Tankhouse Ale tonight for the game!

Go Bills!!!! :(

my porter.
for being pretty dark dark brown/black in the glass, it looks pretty good up to a light.

it's only been in bottles for 10 days, and the head isn't very developed yet, but i wanted to taste my new recipe. the lacing is pretty nice, just doesn't stay long.
all in, all, i'm pretty proud of this one.

I stayed in Grand Island last November when I was doing some work at the ethanol plant in Wood River...I really liked the IPA and Vanilla Porter from Thunderhead Brewing (in The Chicken Coop)!

I really need a beer now:mug:

Later......TangleFoot-out

It's been too long since having a Moose Drool to compare. Here are the specs on my Janet's Brown vs. Northern Brewer's Caribou Slober. These are probably pretty different beers.

Janet's Brown
All-Grain
7.1 ABV (measured)
1.068 OG (measured)
1.014 FG (measured)
68 IBU (calculated with ProMash)

Caribou Slobber

5.3 ABV (calculated)
1.057 OG (recipe)
1.017 FG (assume 70% Attenuation for Wyeast 1332)
35 IBU (Recipe)

Moose Drool
ABV= 5.3%
OG= 1.053
FG= 1.013
IBU: 26
Pretty good beer, but a few better ones around the state. Its unfortunate we don't distribute more of our beers. And import more east coast beers, like DfH or Harpoon.

O Flannagains Stout, it's been bottled for two weeks now and it's delicious. Can't wait to see what it's like in a few more weeks.

Every year we bury some home brews in the BLM a few miles from our house so that we can store some for tasting the next year, this is an annual tradition that we all enjoy. It was a little snowy still this year but we picked a good site where the snow has been clearing fine.

Halfway through the dig:

We're always surprised at what we dig up because we keep no real records of what we stashed the prior year. Sometimes we bury half homebrews and half commercial brews, looks like last year it was all homebrew.

Here's what we buried for next year: Homebrews: Red ale (small beer), Oud Bruin, Scotch Ale(8%). Commercial: Sam Adams Cream Stout, Michelob Dark Lager, Tommyknocker Cocoa Porter.

It was quite cold and muddy so we trekked back to the truck for sampling,
First up was our Pinon Pilsner, it almost gushed and was a tad overcarbonated:D, it took awhile but still tasted good.

Then we had the scottish 80 schilling. It could have been better IMO, but was still drinkable. I guess we missed the picture on this one.

Then I'm pretty sure we tried the jalapeno blonde here somewhere, it was imediately dumped as it was too hot since we left a pepper in this one and everyone wanted some taste buds left for the remainder. (no picture of this one either)

Then came the lambic, we had two different batches of this and both are over the top sour but very complex, we decided a little more oak is needed.

Then we have what is probably our best tasting beer, the Pinon Stout. Excellent beer.

And last but certainly not least we have the strong scotch ale at 13% abv. Awesome caramelly smooth and very dangerous.

I guess 5 out of 7 aint bad?:mug:

Idk if this is strictly beer but here is my apple cranberry cider. Its 8% and you can't taste the alcohol. This can get me in trouble quicker than edworts apfelwein

Do you have a recipe? It's about time to make another batch for myself and that sounds great!

It's basically just like edworts apfelwein just subbed one gal of apple juice with one gal of cranberry juice. Next time i might add more cranberry juice for more cranberry taste but planning on priming this batch with some cranberry before i bottle. It's good and smooth right out of the fermenter once it was clear sure it will age nicely like people say about the apfelwein which its hard to keep. Should bury it like the post above. Bravo man i'll wouldnt have the patience to do :mug:
