Brewed a California Golden Ale from extract. Of course I couldn't wait to try it
and popped a few bottles early. A little more bitter than I like
but still tasty. After re-reading the directions I see it said to add less hops
for a less bitter beer. Oh well.

Getting ready to try a cream ale recipe using extract and grain.
I have lots of noob questions that I'll be posting as soon as I
decide on the recipe.

Cool board.

Congrats on your first brew. It will mellow out over time, so if it's a bit bitter now, wait a few more weeks before trying the next one. Or just drink more, and eventually you'll grow to love it just the way it is.

Yeah, I'm drinking another right now and it already tastes less bitter.
The first six I tried were only six days old in the bottle.
(I know, couldn't wait though and it was Super Bowl Sunday)
Now nine days old and it's already mellowing.

I need to get the next batch brewing because I can see
that first batch will be long gone before its prime and the next batch
is ready.
