Manifold "Notches"

Hi guys, i just put together my manifold, i'm about ready to put the notches in but i'm not sure whether they should be facing up or down? Cheers guys

Yeh I said the same thing to a guy when I built mine. I believe Palmers reasoning is to stop channeling on the bottom. But if it's on the bottom it's already been through the grain right?

It honestly shouldn't matter, (the holes on a false bottom face "up" right?), but I also do mine down. Just feels better.
