Brew club is doing a group buy and in the past I have just been buying the cheapest sacks of grain (briess) but now I am looking more for quality.
Here is a sample of what's available.

What maltsters do you prefer?

Briess 2-row (50lb) Bairds Maris Otter (55lb) Briess Pilsen Malt (50lb) Great Western 2-row (50lb) Great Western ORGANIC 2-row (50lb) Gambrinus Pale Ale Malt (55 lb) Best Malz Pils (55lb) Franco-Belges Pils (55lb)

Out of that list

Best malz makes a quality pilsner malt. It is very solid.

Im not impressed with bairds marris otter, its my least favorite marris otter. I prefer Thomas fawcett, Crisp (though it can be a little overly strong), or Muntons is okay.

Great western I use cause its local. Its quality is similar to briess, Id use whatever is cheaper for 2 row. They are both ok.

I've used gambrinus's esb malt and was underwhelmed. It was sort of bland to me.
