malt confusion

i recently brewed a american amber ale, i used briess brewers malt for the base

when i should have used a pale malt, i know it should be fine but what is the difference between the 2

Brewers malt is a pale malt, and 2-row. I think Briess sells "pale ale malt" and "brewer's two-row malt", and the differences are negligible. The biggest difference is color- the two-row is 1.8 SRM while the pale ale malt is 3.5 SRM. But the pale ale malt might have a maltier flavor, but not much.
