I am drafting an ad for Craigslist, thought I'd run it by the pool of potential applicants here first, since any decent homebrewer--and/or person who kinda thinks they want to work in a brewery but wants more stability--likely possesses the skills and aptitude we're looking for!

PM me if interested. Or if you know anyone who is interested. Or if you know someone with an adult kid who is interested. (Not really allowed to say this in an ad of course, but what we really want is an energetic youngster who doesn't have bum knees and a bad back like the rest of us old-timers).

We need to fill this spot quick. Job is in Kearney Mesa in San Diego, CA.


R&D and Quality Process Technician, Food and Beverage


Compensation: $18-26/hr, depending on qualifications and experience
Employment type: full-time temporary, to permanent hire after 6 months

Support QC testing and R&D projects via operation, cleaning, and maintenance of food and beverage processing equipment, including: UHT pasteurizer, homogenizers, retort machine, pumps, mixers, etc. Necessary training will be provided.

Must have:
  • High school diploma, including having passed some science course(s) with lab
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds frequently, 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work on your feet up to 6 hours per day
  • Some schedule flexibility, shift may start between 6:30am and 8:30am as needed
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to document information completely and accurately
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Good problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • A mechanical aptitude, enjoys working with tools
  • Commitment to a safe working environment
  • Great attitude, punctuality, and a willingness to learn

Preferred:
  • 2-10 years Food industry (or Biotech/Pharma/Med Device/Water Treatment) experience
  • Specific experience with operation and maintenance of relevant machinery
  • Proven ability to conduct and interpret inspection criteria, data and results
  • General understanding of electrical and plumbing requirements for food processing
