Just brewed an Irish Stout yesterday and was wondering the timeline for this type of beer. I bought the kit from a local store and the gentleman mentioned that the Stouts/hoppy beers take longer....just looking for thoughts on this. Thanks for the help

Mine has been in the primary for 3 weeks and I plan on giving it 1 more week in there before bottling.

Three weeks is good in a primary... I'd be very hesitant to go any lower than that.

Now, I have a Oatmeal stout that is in Primary for 2 months (more or less), and it will be about three more weeks before I bottle it, then another month before it gets to it's final destination.

Depending on the stout kit, the issue is not the maltiness of the beer, but rather the ability of the yeast to clean up the off flavours.
