About the vinator - I got a NB gift card and that's going to be my next purchase. They look like they do a great job.
 
Hey mbp! good to see you check in, snow has my delivery delayed, hopefully tomorrow. I'm looking at a wine thief and the vinator, figure they would both be great to have.

Can't beat another hobby with a lot of stuff to check out

I did my first brew without both. Never again!

P.S. - I DRANK my first fully self/home-brewed beer on Christmas Morning, as a present to myself! :)

Pay attention to your fermentation temperature... "sticking it in a closet" did not work for me. My beer is an Alaskan Amber Ale clone, that is overly sweet with an orangey (is that a word?) taste. SWMBO loves it, and I can tolerate it, so for a first try I'll call it a success!

But my New Years resolution is to build a freaking fermentation chamber of some sort, soon.
