Welcome. Don't be afraid to ask questions here or at your homebrew store. We are seeing an increase in poorly written and misleading directions being supplied in those new beer starter kits. I recommend picking up a copy of "How to Brew" by Palmer. Also read the stickies in the beginning of the Beginners section here.
