Hey everyone,

Just picked up my first homebrewing kit a few days ago. Messed up my first batch, I hope the next one will turn out better.

After reading a lot about troubleshooting, I think I screwed up the aeration process. I didn't aerate my wort at all before I pitched my yeast. After I figured that out I opened the top of my fermenter to let some air in, covered it, and then shook the crap out of the bucket. A few hours later I began to see activity in the airlock, and two days later it is still showing a little activity.

Since I compromised sanitation with this batch of wort, I won't be bottling it. Its a waste but I needed to see if that was the problem.

Hey I'm right down the road in Gardena. Welcome to the fold. I think Dante wrote a nice little passage about this hobby. "Abandon all hope all ye who enter here."

So Odds, tell us a little about what you brewed.

Was it extract or AG.
What was the recipe?
Why do you think your wort isn't aerated?
How long ago did you pitch your yeast?
Which yeast?
What was the temperature of the wort when you pitched the yeast?
Did you get a gravity reading?
