Good Evening, new to brewing, been reading about it on here for a few months and its been very helpful. Just did my first brew today, the BB Whiskey Barrel Stout, and thinking about a imperial nut brown this week..

Welcome aboard.

I'm fond of darker beers myself.

I've heard the term "Imperial" used, what does it refer to? Something that is commonly done to a style to separate it?

I've only had one commercial beer labeled "Imperial". It was too heavy for my taste.

Welcome from across the lake (and very, very far from The Eccentric Cafe ...)

Welcome to Home Brew Talk and the passion of home brewing. Congrats on your first brew. Lots of Michigan brewers... check out the BrewSpace pages and the Michigan Mashers group.
