I wanna brew a few 1 gallon batches of beer and I'm almost set up, I just have a couple questions about using yeast at this quantity:
1. According to the recipe, I'm supposed to add 1/2 pack of Wyeast or White Labs yeast. That's fine I can do that, but what is the best way to store the other half of the packet containing the yeast that I am not using? I'm pretty cheap, and would hate to see those yeasties just wind up in the trash!
2. Is it even worth it to make a starter?
3. On bottling day, will this batch yield enough yeast for me to wash and store it for later use, or is the quantity too small for such things? I've only just started washing yeast and just decanted it a few times from a 5 gallon batch into 2 mason jars.
