Hi All,
I've been roaming around the site for a while now, and love it. Particularly the recipe database. I thought it was time to get an account so I can talk to you all.
I'm based in Sydney, Australia. Beer here is OK, getting a lot better, but I missed my homeland's Real Ale (I lived in Yorkshire, UK) movement. Someone mentioned that it is possible to make your own beer. Now there's an idea! I've been brewing since February this year, and have made 16 batches so far. A month or so ago I bought a Grainfather (I was fed up of overboils in my 20L pot on the stove), which I can't recommend enough.
I don't yet have a favourite style, a lot of my early beers were quite strong - I've always liked strong beers. But now I'm building an interest in making excellent low ABV beers. Less headache inducing I've been canvassing the different styles out there, I have no dedicated fridge, so it's ales only at the moment. But I've tried IPAs, a sour beer, a barley wine (that was an arse), and am really enjoying Amber ales at the moment. I've made two, both recipes on this site.
If there's anyone on the forum in Sydney, please shout out! I dont know many homebrewers here.
