I need an additional length of hose for the CO2 in my kegging system. Is there anything special about the hose that is sold by HBS and keg stores, or can I just stop by the local Home Depot and get the black vinyl hose they sell?

I used hose from Home Depot and hose clamps and have no problems. I did not use the black vinyl though. I think it was the clear flexible stuff.

The difference is the quality of the vinyl. :)

The "food grade" tubing sold at homebrew shops has a smooth interior to avoid bacterial growth. There is also a difference in the plasticiser (to avoid the "plastic" taste and aroma).

I just use beer line for everything.

If you use MFL connectors on all beer and gas fittings, you can use any hose anywhere.

It's pretty handy when you need to build an "Out to Out" jumper or something like that.
