I just ordered my first wine kit (a RJ Spagnols Cellar Classic Winery Series Syrah) and read in the online instructions to place the primary in a warm spot about 3-4 feet high. What is the rationale for the height?

My guess is so when it comes time to rack, you dont have to move it and cause yeast and particles to get stirred up.

Possibly so that it does not sit on the floor, which can have drastically different temperatures than surrounding locations. Esp in winter when they can be drastically colder than air temp and cause your fermenter to be colder than desired.
