Hello all: this is a very newbie question, but simple as it is.

Do you foresee any problems when using a fermentation bucket at half its capacity? I.E. fermenting just 2.5 gallons and leaving all the space free?

Should I expect any issues?

Thanks!

I do three gallon batches in five gallon buckets. But only for primary. If I'm doing anything that needs a secondary, I secondary in a three gallon carboy. Once the majority of fermentation is done, you want as little headspace as possible.

I agree with this advice.
Unless you plan using a 5 gallon container for long term storage, I wouldn't worry about it too much
