Just read through all this thread, I was thinking something along the lines of what @bkboiler mentioned. Perhaps your standard brewing practices were fine with other yeasts, but when brewing with this strain, there's an interaction somewhere.
So then you could either categorize it as a "yeast issue" or a "process issue", and either of those would be right.
