So I finally got myself Beersmith and am playing around with a few recipes. Take it easy on me, I'm new to it and this may be a dumb question....

I am planning on making the extract version of Yooper's 60 minute IPA, so I plugged all the ingredients from the recipe. Easy enough. Under the beer profile, where it tells me what my brews are going to be when they grow up everything looks right... except the IBUs. With the exact same ingredients, and the 2.5 gallon boil, I am showing 157.4 where the recipe shows 49.8. Seems like more than a few points off. I love me some hops, but even that may be a little high for me...

Can anyone out there shed some light on what I am doing wrong?

IBU is weight of hops X strength (Alpha Acid %) X time (more or less). If the original recipe was for 10 gallons you need to cut the hops down for a 2.5 gallon batch.
How much hops are you using and what AA ?

Without knowing exactly what you did, it's very difficult to say what (if anything) you are doing wrong.
Can you post your recipe so we can analyze it?
Send me a PM if you don't know how to do this.

Thanks for the replies! The original recipe is for a 5 gallon batch, with a 2.5 gallon boil. That is what I put into beersmith. I acctually wanted to scale it up to a larger boil, as I have the capacity for 4 gallons. I wanted to start out with roughly the same stats as the orignial before I started playing with it though.

I attached the link to the recipe below.

I am at work now so I will try to figure out how to post the beersmith recipe tonight when I get home.
