Today, had a great day brewing up a 60 Minute IPA clone. *All went great until putting the airlock in and top on fermenter bucket. *Initial Gravity was spot on, added yeast, all was going great, until the grommet from the cap fell into the bucket.

Amateur mistake. *Put top on fermenter before putting airlock in.

Long story short, I strained the wort solution into another bucket and got the grommet out. I then poured the solution back into my original fermentation bucket.

My question is, will this mess up the yeast or the batch as a whole? *When I put the cap back on the fermentation bucket, there was some foam on the top of the mixture.

Thanks

Hehe, I see more threads about some variation of this!

You'll be fine. Perhaps use this as an excuse to pick up a spare - then, if it happens again, just leave it in the bucket until fermentation is done.

Definitely going to go and pick up a bunch of spare grommets after this event but I am glad to report that my airlock is bubbling nicely now. All looks well so far. Thanks for the responses.
