My girlfriend wanted to try her hand at brewing and really likes the pumpkin beers expecially this time of year. So while we were trying to figure out how to do this we decided to try it a little different. So she found a yummy chocolate stout recipe and a good pumpkin ale recipe and tweeked it a bit and now we are fermenting. Any body heard of this style before if so let me know so we can try it out a little before ours is done. I have a feeling its ganna be freakin awesome:tank:

Can't see how punkin' pie spice wouldn't go well with chocolate, and I've seen pumpkin stouts before. Sounds good!

Pumpkin and chocolate are a great combo, in my opinion. I'd be interested in seeing the recipe you used.

Sounds like an awesome idea. I found some bottles of my last year's pumpkin ale at my inlaws house in the fridge. I took them home and did a combo of the pumpkin (very little spice at that point), with a drier roasty stout. It was awesome by the way.

Elysian makes one called dark o' the moon. I got the chance to try it last night. Started out really good but they were a little heavy handed on the cinnamon and that flavor built up through the glass in an unpleasant way.

I was thinking the same thing. I am about to brew this - I may or may not add more cocoa. I'll test it from the fermenter and decide. I have never brewed this, or any pumpkin beer, so it's an experiment. Here is the recipe though.

Odaniel,
How did your recipe turn out? I think I had some bad yeast, it was outdated and got on discount, thats the last time I do that. It came out having a really bad soysaucy flavor.
