Hey Guys,

I have my ferment controller all put together, but have a problem. I housed the thing in a steel ammo box. When I shut it I lose my internet connection and craftbeerpi wont work. I also have @LINK internet, which loses service about once a week. I want to run craftbeerpi completely on its own with no internet. Yall got any ideas???

Using
Raspberry pi 3 b+
Raspbian os
Craftbeerpi ver 3

Solved,,,

I found this some where on the internet:

"
The service runs on the Pi and does not need network/internet access. You can try using localhost:5000 or 127.0.0.1:5000 on the pi directly. If you are not on the pi directly, then you would need network access.

localhost and 127.0.0.1 are both loopback addresses

Loopback address is a special IP number (127.0.0.1) that is designated for the software loopback interface of a machine. The loopback interface has no hardware associated with it, and it is not physically connected to a network."

I closed the lid and started up with no internet. I went to firefox and typed in "127.0.0.1:5000" in the address bar and hit enter,,, she loaded up fine. I also tried it on Chromium and it worked as well. I then set it to the default on each browser and im good. I hope someone can post this solution somewhere it can be found easy.. it took me FOREVER to find the solution.

Im posting pics of the build... It will control three fermenters

Running html apps sans an actual network (even just a bare LAN) connection is a fairly obscure environment these days.
Which might inform why it took so long to find a solution - even while localhost and loopback addresses are commonly understood things...

Cheers!
